Work by MANDEM was selected for current and upcoming New York City exhibits: “Artists Undeterred” and “RE:Configurations.”
“Artists Undeterred” features two paintings from MANDEM’s award-winning “Hypermobility” project, which depicts models with connective tissue disorders, exploring the line between medical documentation and art while recentering disability as a form of beauty. “Artists Undeterred” is made possible in part by funding from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. This exhibit is open in the Pride Center of Staten Island Gallery through the end of September, 2018.
“RE:Configurations” will feature MANDEM’s limited-edition artist book “A Wish That I May Come Amongst You” (on loan from the permanent collection of the Dayton Visual Arts Center in Ohio). This exhibit will be showing at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art in New York City starting on October 20, 2018.
