About
MANDEM is a multi-generational artist triad, fronted by M. Arendsee.
Their collaborative, media-fluid work is simultaneously disruptive and beautiful, discussing disability poetics, the visceral body, gender, and childhood while in critical dialogue with art history and mythology.
Their recent award history includes Best in Show at New Masters 2 (Wasmer Gallery), Fantastical Flora and Fauna (South Haven Center for the Arts), 10th Annual May Show (Gallery at Lakeland), and Compassion: The Art of Healing (Coburn Gallery). MANDEM has also received the NEOH Artist Prize from CAN Journal and Best of the Fest at the Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition.
MANDEM exhibits nationally and internationally, showing recently at the John B. Aird Gallery (Toronto), Limner Gallery (New York), Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art (Staten Island), Morpho Gallery (Chicago), and Il Palmerino (Florence, Italy). In the Cleveland area, MANDEM has been prominently featured at Rooms to Let: CLE and IngenuityFest.
MANDEM's work has been supported by grants from the Ohio Arts Council, Dayton Visual Arts Center, and FSU Museum of Fine Arts.
